The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that Grade 11 student Jeston Jake Soriano, 18, and Grade 12 student Johnn Carl Salvado, 17, were collared around 3:45 p.m. in Barangay Libertad.

According to PDEA, an informant tipped them about the students’ alleged illegal drug transaction in the area, prompting authorities to struck a deal with them.

Soriano and Salvado were immediately overpowered by the lawmen when an undercover agent gave the signal that the illegal drug deal was supposedly consummated.

The operatives later found a paper bag with one small brown rectangular box labeled Flash Express in the possession of the teenagers.

Further search of the brown box led authorities to discover one piece of open transparent tape containing around 850 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops and stalks in brick form.

Authorities also confiscated the buy-bust money, two cellphones, and one gray Honda Beat motorcycle with key from the suspects.

Soriano and Salvado face charges for violation of Section 5 (selling), and Section 5 in relation to Section 26 (attempt or conspiracy), Paragraph B, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was carried out by the PDEA Region II Batanes Provincial Office, PDEA Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Apayao Provincial Office, and Abulug Police Station.
